Weather status & forecast updates
We're pretty sure of one thing: Days will be cold, nights will be outright freezing. Cold, windy, cloudy... we may actually receive the entire weather palette, but never actually reach a point of cancellation. That's right... the weather will not be comfortable nor welcoming, but it will allow for rocket launching!
Surprisingly the tricky aspect of the weather for October Sky will be the temperature. Daytimes could range anywhere between 10 and 14 degrees celcius, going from a cool start then progressively going towards cold. Camping will be more difficult than usual given the cold nights ranging in the 0-to-5 degrees celcius.
The winds should be what we expect them to be: October winds. They're not perfect for rocketry, but usually they do not reach our limits - they just give our aircraft a run for their money. Saturday's winds will be borderline, blowing around 20km/h with gusts ranging in the low 40's. Sunday should be more peaceful, showing winds in the 15km/h range with gusts not far above 20.
Precipitation data looks good at this point, as most forecasts call for cloud cover, but not rain. Odds for precipitations seem to be hanging around 35%, and appear to be concentrated around the Saturday.
Bottom line is we're being presented with 70% odds of a launch at the time and the tentative weather status is GREEN, while the temperature status is blue, as in cold, sky's grey as in cloudy!
The field conditions have been verified and are good for launch.
