We are "GO" for the launch SATURDAY: however there are a couple of restrictions below.
We are launching only on Saturday. Irene will likely roll in close by and the winds on Sunday are forecasted beyond ridiculous. So, this means we're launching SATURDAY ONLY. Also, Pierre, our beloved RSO, will only arrive on site at 5pm. This means high power launches between 5 and 8pm. Prior to this we can only launch low-power.
Members only need to pay 10$ to fly this time around.

Weather status & forecast updates
Saturday is expected to be a mix of sun and cloud, and should also sit below mid-way through our wind tolerance range. Surprise showers could be expected, but as it stands there are no sustained precipitations on the menu. Sunday shows concrete chances of being cloudy, with most forecasts calling for cover; however no considerable rain is expected on Sunday either. An issue with Sunday is the likeliness of Irene's winds going well over our limit and forcing launch cancellations. The most favorable times to launch according to current forecasts will be Saturday afternoon and evening.
With these conditions, we are currently GREEN for launching SATURDAY (75% favorable) and ORANGE for launching SUNDAY (40% favorable), due to the very windy conditions. Final decision Thursday Aug. 25 @ 8pm

Post-event description
Unlike most events where clubs from outside the province join up, sometimes making the head count easily pass thirty, we held a very tight-knit low-head-count event with a short-and-sweet Saturday evening HPR session.
While the gates were wide open for low power flight on the day of Saturday, flying was sparse, mostly given the wind conditions, which seemed to favor the twelve-foot-or-more-tall corn field most landings. Sylvain Gagnon and his son François Xavier give folks most the show for the day. As the evening approached, our RSO made it on the field and thus opened up the high power session, expected to last three hours.
Between 6pm and 7:30pm, we had at least five high-power launches ranging from H-impulse to K-impulse. The K motors gave some of the best light shows for an evening launch, each producing a special color, the fliers having picked the Green3 and Blue Streak propellants.
Two certifications were successfully flown and helped prop up the relatively high number of HPR flights in a short amount of time, with so little fliers. Congrats to you all!
Bottom line is we had a great one-day; one-hpr-evening launch event!
As forecasted by the club, Sunday offered no conditions good enough for flying. Hurricane Irene began rolling in around 1pm and pushed the winds well beyond any legal flying limits, not to mention along with pouring rain. |

Location information & directions
Full Google Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=46.006799,-72.731209&hl=en&geocode=&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=14&sll=46.00662,-72.730608&sspn=0.025039,0.081797&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=14
The first step is to reach autoroute 20 on the south shore of Montreal. For local residents, this is pretty easy. If you don't know how, just check a Quebec map!
Take autoroute 20 East towards Drummonville. Take Exit 175 and take the 143 north.
On the 143 (north), go through the village of St-Bonaventure (there are two consecutive right angle turns in the village itself).
- Turn right on the "2e Rang"
- Roll on the "2e Rang" for 0.8km
- Turn Left on the "10e Rang"
- Roll 4.4km on the "10e Rang"
The launch site is on your left (western side of the road - a dirt road to be exact). Look for a sign that shows "TRIPOLI-QUEBEC FUSEES" including orange cones and follow the instructions on the placcard.
If you see an airplane hangar, you're too far. Turn back and roll for about 200 meters.
